Hiking with Babies

All Baby hikes are hosted by an experienced member of our organization, and the hikes will be limited to 15 members. You will carry your baby in a front carrier or in a backpack. The host will keep the group together and welcome each member, and no hiker is ever left alone.

Plan to arrive about 15 minutes prior to the hike start time to allow for preparing you and your baby. Each hike will start with an introduction and explanation of the trail. Your host will be knowledgeable about the terrain and the planned route. You will meet moms with babies older and younger than yours, so you can use this time to share and make friends!

Please go to the schedule of events to sign up for hikes that you plan to attend. You can sign up any time for any scheduled hike (even the morning of the hike) provided the hike is not filled up. Guests (over 7 years old) are ALWAYS welcome to join you!

Hike Ratings

Casual:

1 to 1.5 miles with very gradual incline. Great for moms with brand new babies or moms new to hiking with a baby!

Moderate:

1.5 to 3 miles with moderate incline.

Challenging:

3 miles and up with steeper incline. These hikes are never too strenuous - remember, all hikes are designed for moms carrying babies! Try it, you can do it!

Cancellation Policy

Please check the schedule on the web site prior to the hike. If inclement weather requires cancellation or relocation, the web site will have this updated information. If there is rain or snow on the day of a hike, the decision will be made at the hike site as to whether or not the hike will be cancelled. If in doubt, go to the hike site because it might be sunny there and raining at your house!

There is also a two-person minimum on our hikes since our hosts' time is valuable too. If this minimum is not reached, you'll get an e-mail on the day of the hike so check often! If you need to cancel your registration, login to My Account and select this option next to the event you're signed up for. Please cancel as soon as possible to allow others who may be on the waiting list to attend.
