The kids will get to explore an absolute gem just south of town. This lake hike has so much to look at and explore! We'll do about a mile and your leader will point out some interesting wildlife in this area - birds are abundant... and maybe a frog or two!
From I25 & C470, go west on C470. Exit onto Wadsworth. Go south on Wadsworth about 4.4 miles, PAST the main entrance for Chatfield State Park. Turn left / east on Waterton Road. Immediately turn left into the first parking lot at the Audubon Center sign.

Jefferson County - Windy Saddle Park, Lookout Mountain Trail
This out and back trail travels through open forest for lots of shade on the hot summer days. There is some incline but nothing too hard and the way back is all downhill!
From Hwy 6 turn West on 19th Street (in Golden)Follow it up as it turns into Lookout Mountain Road/Lariet loop to the Windy Saddle parking lot on the right.

Explore a forest of stumps, snags and stately cottonwoods in the company of mule deer, turtles, and meadowlarks.
Take I-70 to Chambers Rd. Go north on Chambers to Smith Road. Take Smith Road east to Laredo Street. Turn South on Laredo and park in the parking lot for the Morrison Nature Center.

Jefferson County - Green Mountain, Green Mountain Trail Loop new
This 2-mile hike has an incline to start and then levels off so we can enjoy the scenery. This hike is exposed and warm in the winter. Dress in layers because the wind can pick up as well. This natural setting is just a hop and skip from town and you won't want to miss this one!
Exit C-470 at the new Alameda exit and turn West. Then turn right onto Rooney Road. Go about a mile to the trail head on your right.

Jefferson County - White Ranch Park, Sawmill to Mustang Trail
This hike will be about 3 miles and is one of the most lovely routes at White Ranch! There are sweeping vistas around every curve. There is a steep incline and if there is enough snow we will go snowshoeing making this a challenging hike.
Take Hwy 93 north out of Golden for one mile to Golden Gate Canyon Road. From here you are about 20 minutes from the trail head. Go west on Golden Gate Canyon Road for 4 miles and turn right onto Crawford Gulch Road. Take Crawford Gulch Road for 4 miles into White Ranch Park and go to the parking lot at the end of the road (not the first one at the park entrance).

We will do two brisk loops around the Crown Hill Lake on the paved trail. This area is teaming with wildlife making it a gorgeous urban gem. Come work off those chocolates your sweetie gave you for Valentine's Day!
From Kipling, go east on 26th to the second parking lot for Crown Hill Park. You will see the bathrooms and several picnic tables.

Jefferson County - Lookout Mountain Nature Center, Forest Loop
This is a .6 mile hike that meanders through the woods allowing for kids to search for all kinds of treasures! The trail has some incline and obstacles making it great for more sure-footed toddler hikers. Following the hike, the nature center is open for some fun exploring of animal habitats and food sources.
Take I-70 to the Lookout Mountain exit and follow the signs to the Lookout Mountain Nature center. We will meet on the benches outside.

Jefferson County - Red Rocks Park, Amphitheatre Loop
This terrific hike is perfect for moms getting acquainted with the techniques of hiking with baby or anyone interested in testing out a harder Casual hike. It’s less than 1.5 miles with fairly gradual inclines – steeper at the end. New members are encouraged to come, and if this is your first hike with Mountain Mamas, you'll get a great orientation to our group and some good information on hiking safely with your baby!
Take C-470 to the Morrison Road exit. Go through Morrison and turn right at the sign for Red Rocks Amphitheatre. Meet at the trading post at the top of the hill.

Jefferson County - Deer Creek Canyon Park, Meadow Lark Trail
This hike is 2.7 miles and has a pretty steady climb followed a descent back to the start. The scenery is spectacular in this area south of town, and the second half of the hike is restricted to hikers only.
Take C-470 to the Kipling exit and go south. Take Kipling for a short distance to Ute Avenue and turn right (west), then right again onto Deer Creek Canyon Road. Follow the winding road for a couple miles and then turn left onto Grizzly Drive. Go less than a mile and the park is on the right.

Jefferson County - Lair O’ the Bear Park, Creek Side Trail
It’s all about the water… and bridges… and finding muddy treasures on this hike! This half-mile hike is along a creek making for endless fun tossing branches, poking at the mud, and looking for water insects. Plan to have a blast along the creek! A great hike for new or experienced toddler hikers.
Take C-470 to the Morrison Road exit and go west. Go through Morrison and then continue straight onto Hwy 74. Go 4.7 miles, and the park is on the left.

Join us on this challenging hike to work off those winter pounds! This trail at nearly 4 miles has pretty views, and abundant wild life. Once at the top the second half of the loop is all down hill - but getting there is a real challenge!
Take C-470 to the Morrison Road exit and go west. Just after the town of Morrison turn left at the last light and go south on Hwy 8. Go about 1.5 miles and turn right onto Forest Avenue. Take another right onto Vine and follow signs into Mount Falcon Park.

Jefferson County - Flying J Ranch Park, Flying J Ranch Park Trail
This 3.1 mile hike is shaded and mostly flat. This area is extremely peaceful and quiet - until we arrive with the babies! This hike is at a higher elevation so the temps will be a bit cooler. If we are able to go snowshoeing, you will receive an email the day before!
Take C-470 to Hampden/Hwy 285 South. Go South/West on 285 for about 15 miles almost to Conifer. Before Conifer you will see the exit for Staples and a Bradley/Sinclair gas station. Exit the highway on the right and again veer right at the first light. You are now on CR 273 and you will go through two more stoplights for a total of 1.5 miles from where you exited the highway. At the sign for Flying J Ranch Park, turn left and continue about a half mile to the parking area and restrooms.

A beautiful natural area in the middle of suburbia! If you've never been to this park, you'll be amazed at hoe beautiful it is! We're sure to see plenty of ducks from the cool bridge overlook.
From Wadsworth and Alameda go south for .3 miles. At West Ohio Avenue turn west and go two blocks straight ahead through the Irongate Office parking lot. We'll meet at the west side of the white office building.
